Free Plant Shop

Bikalpa Gyan Tatha Bikas Kendra organized Free Plant Shop on 6th of July at Jagritinagar, Sinamangal. This initiative was taken in order to keep the surrounding clean and green while also growing herbs and vegetables will aid in household expenses cut down.

This is also voicing in solidarity with newly elected Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City; Balen Shah with the strategy of solid waste management. It can be supported by managing our waste ourselves and people need to learn it all starts at home. Bikalpa wishes that the Jagritinagar to be a model residential area despite it being a poverty-stricken tenement with full of greenery and properly managed waste.

The program was facilitated by participants of Women Education Program (WEP), Community Young Women Leaders (CYWL) and Bikalpa Team where everyone contributed at least 5 plants or more. The plants were of asparagus, cauliflower, okra, tomatoes, chillies, cabbage, eggplant, pumpkin, flowers and other herbal plants.

The program was ended by Ms. Stella Tamang’s (Founder/ Executive Director) short speech where she requested the parents of Angan School and residents of Jagritinagar to keep their surroundings clean and green. She also suggested that we can support the campaign of Mayor of Kathmandu to manage the waste in local level.
